I Hope One Day They’ll Find a Miracle

As a mother, a friend, a mentor, a sibling, a family member, a coworker and a living breathing human being, my heart goes out to the children, the families and the larger community in Newtown, Connecticut.

I feel so heavy inside. I can’t imagine the pain and the devastation for all who knew someone involved with the violence.

And all I can do is hope for a miracle that somehow, someday, even if it’s just a little, they’ll heal.

Please God, I’m hoping you’ll show them all a miracle.

  1. I so pray this with you, E. Questions consume me, wondering how we, as a nation… a world, can stop all this senseless violence. Gun control is not the answer. We need more love, more understanding, a better balance of thinking about ourselves less and others more, more awareness about mental health treatment, and less violent video games/movies/commercials/television shows/etc. I just don't understand why people get to this point. God bless those babies, techers, and families.

  2. Thank you so much for your reflections, Chrissy. I completely believe in the support for mental illness. It's so difficult to understand and treat. I read the most heart breaking story about a mom with a 13 year old son who had an IQ off the charts, but he was so emotionally disturbed they had escape plans everyday for the younger children. Wow. I don't know how I would handle that as a mom.
