Thrust out of their homes by a human High Priest on a vengeful mission, the Natives of Derlund no longer have a place to call their own. One escaped capture, however, and now she, Hyla, is the only one who can save her people.

For, Hyla, though, saving her nation isn’t her ultimate goal—returning to the Pool of Souls is. Becoming its Guardian and preserving their faith is her heart’s desire. The perils of her current journey, though, could leave her unable to fulfill that dream.

To find her way back to the Pool, Hyla must live among dangerous, powerful humans willing to defend the Natives, and must submit herself—her Talents—to them. While her protection is paramount, plots to end Hyla’s life will push her to her physical and emotional limits.

A bit about Terri…

Tracey Hanlon Photography

Terri started writing stories in the 8th grade, when a little gnome whispered in her brain. Gundi’s Great Adventure never hit the best seller list, but it started a long love affair with storytelling.

Today she enjoys an escape to Middle Earth during the rare ‘me’ moments her three young children allow. When not playing toys, picking them back up, or kissing boo-boos, she can be found sprawled on the couch with a book or pencil in hand, and toothpicks propping her eyelids open.

Where can you connect with her?

Finally! The moment you’ve been waiting for…

…Terri Rochenski and her guest post on Dreams.

I’ll be honest – I get SO jealous of fellow author friends who chat on Facebook and writer forums about the vivid dreams they have, and the synopsis or outline that gets scribbled to completion the next morning.
o_O
Never had it happen. Not a single time.
My dreams are along these lines…
– A field full of snakes I need to get across, *SHUDDER!!*, and no matter where I look to put my foot, there’s a slivery, hissing nasty just dying to sink his fangs into my ankles.

– Sight-seeing with a group of tourists, and we get attacked by a dozen or so massive, starving grizzleys. *GULP*

– Then there’s the ‘You hurt my family and I’ll stab you with a pitchfork!’ dreams. Yup. Really dreamt that one. More than once. NO, I don’t have such psychotic thoughts while awake!

– And of course, there’s the occasional warmth-inducing fantasy which brings out the cougar in me.
Shhhhh. Don’t tell!!
So, does this mean I don’t have a creative mind? I don’t think so. Just means I’ve got to work a bit harder for my stories to come together!
Here’s to hoping…
How about you? Ever dream a novel into existence? Get jealous of those who do?

And my dreams?
I remember my first nightmare actually…at 4-years old I was already dreaming about crazy animals like dragons and gryphons and other strange mythical animals.  I remember waking up and screaming for my mom. The dream had been something like this…

…Sitting in the back of my dad’s old 1978 Yellow Scout, we drove down a dirt road, the dust flying at dusk. Something caught the sunlight, glittery and bright. It moved at me. It came for me. Racing. Wild. The back of the Scout was open for some reason and my jaw drop. I couldn’t tear my eyes away from its eyes. A Gryphon. Giant and muscley jumped for my legs on the end of the Scout…

…and then I woke up.

You see, I have always loved fairy tales…and fantasy stories. They make my mind wander with endless possibilities…
And what about a good dream you might ask? I dream of many things like you…happiness. Smiles. Success for everyone I love and above all things…helping others smile. And if my writing career takes off again, well, that would be pretty amazing too. 🙂

So here’s to your awesome Wednesday! Thank you for joining me.

And now for the free stuff…but first, all, have a lovely Wednesday. May all your dreams come true…but of course, you might have to work just a bit to get them. 🙂

It seems like this book has been for-freaking ever in the making, but it’s finally done. It contains a few shards of my soul, a whole lot of tears, (well, those were mine and not actually IN the book) and a great deal of thought. And re-thought.

I’ll be honest. This was the hardest book I’ve ever written. EVER. I had no idea how complicated it would be to write book 2 after how I left Addison and Asher in Darkside Sun.

I realized far too late that writing backstory for a character who couldn’t remember most of her past, or why she’s attracted to a certain hot professor, was going to be tricky to put it mildly. Especially because I was writing in first person. Add in a seriously complicated new origin story for Earth, and I found myself in a maze of story arcs that took me a…

Cover Reveal: Will The Real Prince Charming Please Stand Up?

AC_WillTheRealPrince500x750Happy Monday, all.

Today, I’m posting a cover reveal for Will The Real Prince Charming Please Stand Up? By Ella Martin, and I have  a couple of comments to add. First of all, and I’m speaking personally on this topic of course, book titles are incredibly difficult to nail down. I have to say, I’m quite impressed with this one.  After opening my email from L.S. Murphy with the title and cover, immediately, I started hearing a song by Eminem called The Real Slim Shady in my mind, and I smiled. I won’t ever be able to forget the title now. 🙂

Second thought I have? The cover is lovely. Yellow. Happy. The swag of the dress. I couldn’t wait to find out more.

In 400 words, here is a bit about the book.

If only fairy tales warned “happily ever after” only happens with the right guy…

15-year-old Bianca learns the hard way when she falls for Dante, the hottest guy in her class, who turns out to be anything but charming. And it doesn’t help that Tim, a long-time crush and her brother’s best friend, still makes her head fuzzy. Bianca has to ask: WILL THE REAL PRINCE CHARMING PLEASE STAND UP?

The Back of the Book:

Happily Ever After only happens with the right guy. It’s a tiny but important detail most fairy tales choose to leave out. But what happens when the princess rides off into the sunset with Prince Charming, only to discover he’s not so charming, after all?

Bianca Sullivan thinks she’s a pretty average girl. Sure, her brother may be the super-stud captain of the football team, but that’s her only claim to fame –- until her friends’ social experiment turns her into the new It girl of the Sophomore class, and she captures the attention of the most popular guy in her grade. Ecstatic to introduce the world to her first boyfriend, she’s trying to enjoy being wooed by the ultimate heartthrob. But no one’s ever told her what to do when her friends hate her boyfriend and Prince Charming starts acting like a control-freaky misogynist. And as if deciding whether to trust Prince Charming, her friends, or her own instincts wasn’t hard enough, being around her brother’s best friend is making her head all fuzzy, too. Oh, if only love was as simple as fairy tales make it out to be…
