Ah Ha Moments

Sometimes we all need that perfect comment.

The day goes on sometimes, just like the last. You don’t realize anything is different or wrong. You drink you’re cup of coffee, or your coke or maybe your vitamin water (whatever your flavor). Then someone says something to you and you stop and pause—you have a change in focus. Maybe you even wonder if you’ve been thinking all that clearly about yourself.

Not long ago I was at a lunch meeting where a bunch of professionals get together monthly to talk about best practices. I arrived in the room and sat my purse down on a table—the purse I received as a gift for Christmas from my dad and step mom. The director of my group stopped preparing for the meeting and came over to me. He said something of the sort, “Wow Erika, nice purse.”

I started to make excuses for it. Because it is a really expensive purse. Something I would have never purchased on my own. I think my words went something like this, “Thank you. Please don’t think I bought it for myself. It was a gift.”

This director leaned in and said, “Erika. That’s a wonderful purse. You are a good person and you deserve great things.”

I thought to myself, wow. He’s darn right.

And I grinned.

So I guess the purpose of this post is two-fold: sometimes in order to take that next step to aim high for your dreams, YOU need a little attention. Take it. You deserve it.

Then when you feel good, sometimes those steps to your dreams seem just a wee bit easier…

(This post is in no way endorcing the purchase of large expensive items you can’t afford. Only the things you might not have thought about because it seems silly…wink)

  1. You DO deserve nice things…if anyone does, it would be you! 🙂 And…I LOVE the fine print. Haha…
